Smith and Associates P.C. was formed in 1986. We are located in Lakewood, Colorado and specialize in providing accounting and tax services exclusively for small businesses. The firm has two shareholders. Both shareholders have been in both private and public practice and therefore can understand the concerns of running a small business and also the accounting rules they must follow to have their financial statements comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Graduated from Colorado State University in 1977 with a triple major in Marketing, Accounting, and Business Administration. Received her CPA license in 1982. Worked as Manager of the Emerging Business group for KPMG Peat Marwick LLP in Denver from 1979 to 1985. Opened her own accounting practice in 1986. Worked as Vice President and Controller/CFO for several fast paced, turnaround, manufacturing companies from 1989 to 2002. These companies specialized in the computer hardware industry, custom weighing and filling systems, mobile vending carts, and catalog and retail custom dolls . Specializes in assisting small growing entrepreneurs with planning their financial futures. We strive to structure their financial transactions to maximize tax savings. Assists clients with entity selection, budgeting, loan packages, and tax planning.

Graduated from Western State College in 1977 with a double major in Accounting and Business. Received his Masters in Finance degree from University of Colorado in 1993. Received his CPA license in 1993. Worked as Vice President and CFO/Controller in the mining industries and real estate appraisal service. Joined our accounting practice in 1989. Specializes in clients in a variety of industries including retail, mining, construction, transportation, and professional services.

Graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder in 2010 with a degree in Accounting with extensive coursework in Finance as well as earning a minor in Political Science. Served as Chairman of College Republicans and Liberty Club. Awarded a scholarship to attend the 2009 London Finance Seminar. Joined the accounting practice in 2006. Specializes in assisting small business owners with their business and personal tax and financial needs. Currently pursuing his CPA license.

Graduated from University of Phoenix in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Worked for 7 years for a fast paced Technology Company as an in house bookkeeper and payroll specialist while obtaining her degree. Also worked at Dino’s Italian restaurant for 6 years ending in management. Joined the accounting practice in 2015 specializing in assisting small business owners with their accounting and payroll needs.
